IFUJI's boxes are all made by hand in the traditional way, by boiling the wood, shaping it, and allowing it to dry in a mold for two days, ensuring their unique characteristics.
Originally, The Shakers used oval boxes for holding sewing and quilting tools and for storing dry foods in the kitchen - today their uses are unlimited.

Exteriors are finished with flaxseed oil based coating and bees wax, while insides are unfinished.
To maintain, gently rub the box with soft dry cloth to get the beautiful shine. Keep out of direct sunlight.

IFUJI is a woodcraft tablewares and homewares brand and studio founded by a Japanese designer and craftsman Masashi Ifuji in Matsumoto in Nagao prefecture.
Mr Ifuji started making these classic oval boxes (or pantry boxes) in 2005 using the original templates and traditional techniques used by The Shakers which they had used since the 19th century. His boxes are crafted the traditional way, by boiling the wood, shaping it, and allowing it to dry in a mold for two days. IFUJI's boxes are all made by hand, ensuring their unique characteristics.
